Not using separate cutting boards for raw animal proteins and fresh produce

Designate one cutting board for raw animal proteins like beef, pork, poultry or fish. Use another for any fresh produce or foods that are not going to be cooked, such as salad ingredients. Otherwise, you're guaranteed to have cross contamination, which is one of the more subtle but common ways to get sick.

After handling raw meat, always wash your utensils—cutting boards, knife and dishes—with hot, soapy water.
