Send her something sweet

Skip the chocolates this year, and spoil your mom with a sweet treat from a local bakery that does delivery or find a pastry company that does cupcakes, cakes, pies or cookies. If you're in the same town, you could even do what actress Kate Bosworth did by baking the dessert yourself and delivering to your mom's front door. Of course, you won't be able to hug her, but you can place it on the doorstep, ring the doorbell, then retreat to a safe distance so you can watch her delight when she discovers the surprise. Just make sure you take all the necessary precautions (wear a mask and gloves during the preparation and when packaging it). If you're not a great baker or are worried about the transmission, let the pros do their thing.
