When it comes to donuts, it's hard to beat these mom-and-pop shops across America. Eating donuts from local businesses is for a good cause, too!

Gibson's Donuts — Memphis, Tennessee

Gibson's Donuts is a Memphis institution, known for raveworthy cake- and yeast-based donuts, exceptional customer service and competitive prices (donuts are half off starting at 11 pm). The shop has been in business since 1967, and although the original owner ended up selling to a close friend, it's still the same ol' mom-and-pop venture it was back then. They even use the original baking and and glazing machines. While there are plenty of modern donut concoctions to choose from, it's the simple glazed yeast donuts that really hit the spot (just ask Food Network Star and loyal fan, Alton Brown). Bonus: Gibson's is open 24-7, so you can head there to indulge your donut cravings any time they hit.
