A passion for organic food
King Charles III has long been an environmental advocate, and he founded Duchy Organics in 1990 with the aim of promoting organic farming and foods. The first product to be sold under the brand was an oaten biscuit, originally only available at high-end shops and outlets. Today, Duchy Organics has become the UK's largest own-label organic food and drink brand with some 300 products, many of which are also exported to more than 30 countries around the world.
In 2010, King Charles III partnered with Waitrose to create a new brand called Duchy Originals from Waitrose; five years later, it was reintroduced as Waitrose Duchy Organic, and the brand has since generated over £30 million for the Prince of Wales Charitable Fund (PWCF) since the companies merged.
