How Long Does Oktoberfest Last?
As mentioned previously, Oktoberfest now starts in September. This year, it's taking place between September 3rd and October 16th, with the festival tents opening at 9am (but don't worry, alcoholic beverages aren't served until noon!)
As soon as the clock striked midday and the first keg of beer is opened, the crowd cheers "o'zapft!", Bavarian exclamation meaning, "it's tapped!".
Of course, that's when the real party starts.
