Argentina has long struggled to address gender equality: a country where one woman was killed every 34 hours in 2016. Argentinians have begun to denounce violence against women, in a movement called Ni Una Menos (or "Not One Less"). Machismo culture furthermore pervaded the streets of Buenos Aires — that is, until the government passed a law criminalizing public sexual harassment. If found guilty, harassers would be charged 60 US dollars and may be obligated to perform community service.
