Alaea Salt/Hawaiian Red Salt

This salt gets its name from the Hawaiian volcanic clay, alaea, which is mixed into it and provides iron oxide—an edible source of iron. If you're cooking meat, this will help seal the moisture in and similar to Persian blue salt, it is often used with dessert. It helps bring out the flavors in dishes with chocolate, ice cream and caramel, but its bold yet subtle taste (said to be less strong than table salt) offers a nice complement to any dish.

Suggestions:

We suggest using this to season pulled pork, steak, scalloped potatoes, Caprese salad, ceviches, dark chocolate recipes and to coat your cocktail rims!
