Airheads

Dutch-Italian company Van Melle, Incorporated set up an American shop in Erlanger Kentucky in 1979. Meanwhile, in Germany, the company was working on a soft flat piece of candy with fruity flavor that went on to become Airheads. Then Director of Marketing Steve Bruner came up with the name, after asking his kids what they would call friends who did something silly. One of their responses was "Airheads," and it ended up sticking. Today, the product is available in 8 flavors, with some special edition flavors released from time to time.
