Southern Chicken Dumplings

This is my Grandmother's recipe, and is vague in places
- Boiling chicken (hen)
- 2 cups flour
- 1 tsp. salt
- 1/2 stick of butter (oleo/margarine)
- Sweet Milk
- Black pepper to taste
Lemon Pie

Mix dry ingredients
- 1 1/4 cups sugar
- 3 Tbls. corn starch
- 3 Tbls. flour
- 1 1/2 cups hot water
- 3 egg yolks
- 2 Tbls. butter
- 1/3 - 1/2 cup lemon juice
Fresh Strawberry Jell-O Cake

In a bowl bigger than the angel food cake, pour boiling water into jello and stir thoroughly
- 2 small packages strawberry jello (or 1 large package)
- 2 cups boiling water
- 1 10 oz. package frozen strawberries
- 1 9 oz. Angel Food cake
Fresh Strawberry Cake II

Dissolve jello in boiling water, then add ice water
- 2 10 oz boxes frozen strawberries, thawed and drained (reserve juice)
- 1 box strawberry jello (small)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1/2 cup ice water
- 1 10 inch Angel Food cake
- 2 cups whipping cream (or Cool Whip)
- Icing
- 1 cup strawberry juice (from frozen strawberries)
- 1 Tbls corn starch
- 1 Tbls butter
Hominy Casserole

Brown ground beef and drain fat
- 1/2 to 1 lb ground beef
- 1/2 onion, chopped
- butter
- 1 can hominy, drained (retain liquid)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Cheese (usually american slices)
- Catsup
- Pepper and paprika
- 1 tsp. corn starch

Mix together and cook in a medium oven (about 350 degrees) until brown or done when you test it with a fork in the ...
- 1 lb Ground Beef
- 1/2 lb Pork Sausage (this can be left out)
- 1/2 cup rolled oats or cracker crumbs
- 1 egg
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1/4 cup tomatoes (or 1 can Tomato Sauce)
Whiskey Cake

A Christmas favorite!
- 6 eggs, separated
- 2 cups sugar
- 1 cup Whiskey
- 1 lb. butter (homemade if you have it)
- 4 cups sifted flour
- 1 heaping tsp. baking powder
- 1 lb white (golden) raisins,cut or chopped
- 1 quart pecans, chopped
- 1 tsp. lemon extract
Sweet Potatoes with Marshmallows

Cook potatoes until tender and then cream them
- 4 or 5 Sweet potatoes (I'm guessing on quantity - 1 per person)
- 1/4 cup cream or milk
- 2 eggs
- 1/2 cup sugar
- Bit of nutmeg
- Small marshmallows
Corn Meal Dumplings with Ham Hocks

Boil the ham bone until the remaining meat falls off
- 1 ham bone after most of the meat has been cut off
- 2 cups corn meal
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1 onion, chopped
- 6 green onions, chopped
- 1 or two eggs
- Salt and pepper to taste
Apricot Nectar Cake

Mix cake mix and jello (dry)
- Cake
- 1 package yellow cake mix (in a bag, not a box)
- 1 package lemon jello (small box)
- 3/4 cup vegetable oil
- 3/4 cup Apricot Nectar
- 1 tsp. vanilla extract
- 1 tsp. lemon extract
- 4 eggs
- Glaze
- 1/4 cup lemon juice
- 1 cup powdered sugar
