Fat Ronnie's Onion Rings

I don't remember where I found this recipe but it beats all the others we have tried. It has the place of honor to be the ONLY onion ring recipe I now have. And I no longer look at others

  • 1 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon ground black pepper

Step 1

Place buttermilk in one bowl. Mix the flour and spices in another bowl (or large plastic bag). Slice your onions into rings about 1/4" to 1/2" wide.

Step 2

Dredge onion rings in flour mixture first, then dip in buttermilk and recoat with the flour mix again. Place onion rings in hot oil without overcrowding. Flip rings to fry both sides.

Step 3

When golden remove from oil and drain. Salt if necessary (just like with your french fries). To add "flavor" to your serving use a brown paper bag to serve the rings on. OR... fish and chips
