Always Running Late? Here's Why It's Not Your Fault

Are you perpetually running late? Getting reamed out by your boss/boyfriend/girlfriend/friends/teachers/mom, etc. ? Stop blaming yourself, and show them this article.

According to science, people who are chronically late are the most optimistic. It's also been shown that these people have a Type B personality, meaning they're more easy-going and less stressed. They're able to see the bigger picture, and they also tend to be more reflective and creative.

And what do we mean exactly by optimistic? Imagine you wake up in the morning with a solid 2 hours before you have to leave for work. You decide to eat a banana before fitting in a 30-minute workout. Then you make breakfast and eat it, which likewise takes about 20-30 minutes depending on what you make. While eating, you check your Facebook feed, skim some interesting news articles or watch totally useless videos (whatever floats your boat). Then you hit the shower (10 minutes if you're really efficient). Get dressed and ready, and before you know it, you only have 20 minutes to get to work when your commute takes 30.

So your optimism comes with the belief that you can get more things done in a certain time frame, and you're good at multi-tasking. The downside is you're bad at time management and sometimes unrealistic in  your expectations. People also tend to frown upon lateness, so it won't do you any favors professionally or personally.

While we acknowledge being on time is important for myriad reasons, the silver lining is that you might be more productive, efficient, creative and happier So if you must stop and smell the roses from time to time, do it. Everything will be okay in the end.
