Memere's Tourtiere (Grandma's meat pie)

Ingredients

  • 3lbs lean ground beef
  • 1lb ground pork
  • 1lb lean ground pork
  • 6 medium potatoes
  • 1tsp cinnamon
  • 1tsp ground clove
  • 2tsp salt
  • 3 medium onions cut up
  • pepper to taste
  • 6 pie crusts

Preparation

Step 1

Brown meat, add onions and sauté till light. Cook potatoes separately and mash. Add to meat mixture along with seasonings. Put filling into pie crust and lay other crust on top and seal edges.
Bake at 350º for 35-40 minutes or until light brown

  4. Spoon mixture into individual cabbage leaves, and fold carefully to form little rolls
  5. Serve with any remaining mixture
  6. Enjoy!
