Defrost Safely
If you buy a frozen turkey, make sure you defrost that bird safely! The safest way to do so is in the refrigerator—a five-pound turkey will take a full 24 hours to completely defrost in the fridge, so plan accordingly. To gain a little time near the end, you can also submerge it (still wrapped) in a cold water bath, with a cold water drip—just make sure you change the water every 30 minutes. Never defrost your turkey by leaving out on the counter!
