  • 1 medium cabbage
  • Tomato Sauce:
  •   3 cups tomato juice
  •   3 tsp lemon juice
  •   1/4 cup brown sugar (brown sugar)
  •   salt
  •   1 clove garlic, crushed
  • stuffing:
  •   1/2 pound ground pork
  •   1/2 pound ground veal
  •   1/4 cup grated onions
  •   1/4 cup uncooked rice
  •   1 tsp salt
  •   pepper
  •   1 egg, beaten
  •   1/4 cup water

Step 1

Prepare cabbage leaves: Remove outer leaves and the heart. Bring a saucepan of water to a boil then remove from heat and place the cabbage. Soak for 15 minutes to soften the leaves.

Step 2

To make sauce: In saucepan, combine tomato juice, lemon juice, brown sugar and garlic. Simmer over low heat for 20 min. Add a pinch of salt.

Step 3

Prepare the filling: Mix all the stuffing ingredients, and place a little bit on each cabbage leaf (not too much because you need to close them). Then roll the cabbage rolls, and align them in a well-oiled dish. Bake 2 hours at 350 ° F
