  • For the cake:
  • 3 cups sifted all-purpose flour, plus more for dusting

  • 3/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk, at room temperature
  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 sticks unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs, at room temperature
  • 4 ounces bittersweet chocolate, melted and cooled
  • For the frosting:
  • 4 oz egg whites (3-4 large egg whites or about 1/2 cups)
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 lb unsalted butter, room temperature
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 sleeve Oreos, run through the food processor until finely chopped
