Cheese Scallop Potatoes

  • 3 Tbsp. Butter
  • 3 Tbsp. Flour
  • 2 1/2 cups of WARM Milk
  • 2 Tbsp. Cheese Whiz
  • 1/2 to 1 Chopped Onion
  • 6-8 Large Potatoes
  • 5 Cheese Slices

Preparation

Step 1

Slice potatoes about 1/4 inch thick and layer in a 9 x 12 buttered glass baking dish.

Step 2

Make sure you have your warm milk ready before you start anything else (check tips). Melt butter on med-high heat and then add flour in a pot, stirring constantly.

Step 3

GRADUALLY add warm milk stirring constantly. After thickened add Cheese Whiz then cheese slices and remove from heat stirring constantly until cheese is melted.

Step 4

Add chopped onion. Pour sauce over potatoes slowly moving potatoes around a bit to make sure the sauce makes it to the bottom of the dish as well. Pour remainder on top. Cook at 400 degrees for 45 minutes uncovered.

Very important to warm the milk. Use a glass measuring cup and heat in the microwave for about 1 to 2 minutes.
