Basler Leckerli: Swiss-German gingerbread cookies

This spiced gingerbread cookie is originally Swiss but with a strong German influence. Sweetened with honey, it gets a satisfying crunch from slivered almonds yet still has a nice, soft contrasting texture found in the biscuit. Candied orange peel and candied lemon peel add a sticky, refreshing flavor dimension, while the sugary glaze seals everything deliciously together.
