Don't use water that's been in your water boiler or coffee machine for several days. This isn't so much due to the water itself but to the equipment. Depending on the material, this can produce small nickel particles from stainless steel, which many people are allergic to, or plastic substances, such as bisphenol A, which can affect human hormones. Not to mention, the dissolved gases and minerals undergo chemical transformations each time the water is re-heated, making them more toxic.
