Recipe Card Series - Meatballs

My grandfather was a tough man and quite intimidating. His 6 children, my father being one of them, would surely vouch for his stern, uncompromising attitude.  But there was one thing that brought my family together and that was the love of food. Being in the kitchen with people he loved brought out the softer side in him.

I remember being young and sitting on the kitchen counter top of my grand parents' lake house, my grandmother had just brought in fresh water from the well. My grandfather was chopping fresh basil from his garden and I had my hands completely emersed in the meatball mixture. That was my favorite part.
