Kurtos Kalacs (Hungary)

If you've got a sweet tooth while in Hungary, stop and get yourself a delicious kurtos kalacs. It's basically a spit cake made from sweet, yeast dough which is spun in strips around a cone-shaped baking spit and then coated in granulated sugar. The dough is roasted over charcoal and basted in butter until the exterior turns golden-brown, while the sugar crystals caramelize and give it a nice shiny crust. Eat these yummy cakes on their own or topped with various ingredients.
