Kitchen HACK: Use This Everyday Household Item To Get Perfect Cake Slices

,

Soft and smushy cake tastes great, but it's not very easy to slice and serve. Try this super simple trick to get clean, perfect pieces – every time!

After spending all those hours mixing, baking, and decorating a cake, it's absolutely heartbreaking to dig in with the cake slicer and accidentally destroy it from the very first piece.

So when it comes to super-soft cakes, cookie dough logs, or cheeses, how do you manage to divvy it up for all your guests without turning each slice into a smushy mess?

Here's a trick for you that'll work like magic! And all you need is dental floss.

Unlike cake slicers, which are thicker and will often crush your masterpiece and get icing stuck all over them, a thin piece of unflavored floss will cut right through a soft cake or cheese without disturbing a thing. Simply use the floss to divide the cake up; then you're safe to use the "slicer" to pick up the pieces and put them on their designated plates.

This little-known use for dental floss is one that every host and hostess needs to know. Share it with a friend!
