How to Make the Best Homemade French Fries Ever

Flip and steam

Flip the fries one time at the halfway point. The side facing up should be nice and golden. Too much handling of the fries means they'll take too long to cook. Periodically crack open the oven to let the steam out. Since all of the moisture is escaping from the potatoes, it needs to get out of the oven or you will end up with steamed potatoes instead of crunchy fries.
