The origins of baked potato soup are unknown. Cultures all over the world share the love of this soup, dishing it up in different variations depending on climate and culture. Serve potato soup as a hearty cold weather classic with loaded baked potato soup. Serve your soup cold as a summer staple making Vichyssoise. Baked potato soup can be made with many combinations of ingredients that can include leeks, carrots, celery, onions, milk or cream. Use chicken stock as a base or vegetable stock for a vegetarian recipe or omit the milk or cream for a vegan option.

Chocolaty Pear Loaf

Ingredients

  • 150g / 3/4 cup sugar
  • 150g / 2/3 cup softened butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp fresh yeast
  • 180g / 1 1/2 cups flour
  • 190g / 1 1/2 cups chocolate, melted
  • 4 pears

Method

  1. Combine sugar,  butter and eggs in bowl. Mix well.
  2. Add fresh yeast and flour and mix through. 
  3.  Pour in melted chocolate and fold into mixture.
  4. Peel 4 pears (or as many comfortably fit in your baking pan)
  5. Pour chocolate mixture into lined or greased baking loaf pan.
  6. Evenly space the pears in the pan, sitting upright.
  7. Bake at 350°F / 180°C for 35 minutes.
  8.  Drizzle with more melted chocolate, and serve.

Melt the butter in the bottom of a large pot over medium-high heat

  • 2 sticks (1 cup/16 tablespoons) unsalted butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 8 cups whole milk
  • 5 large potatoes, baked and cubed (peeled, if desired)
  • 2 pounds chicken cooked and shredded (about 2 cups)
  • 3 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups sour cream
  • 1 bunch green onions, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 1 tablespoon ground black pepper
  • 1 clove garlic, minced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese (optional)

1/2 cups cheddar cheese 1 pkg bacon 1 1/2 tsp Olive Oil 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 cups onions 1 stalk celery 4 cups ch

  • Cook bacon , drain on paper towel
  • sauté onions and celery add broth and potatoes
  • bring to boil then reduce heat
  • simmer covered for 10 to 15 mins
  • stir in cheese
  • keep heated till cheese melts
  • after cheese melts remove from heat and add bacon

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup chopped onion
  • 1/4 cup flour
  • 1 can chicken broth
  • 1- 12 oz can evaporated milk
  • 2 or 3 baked potatoes

Cook bacon in large pot. Set bacon aside

  • 6-8 potatoes
  • 1 onion
  • 1 and 1/2 C celery
  • 1-2 cans of cream of chicken, or cream of celery soup
  • 4 C milk
  • 2 and 1/2 inches Velveeta
  • 1 C cheddar cheese
  • 1 Tbsp parsley
  • 1/4 C butter
  • 1 C bacon cut in small bits
  • 1 C sour cream (optional)
  • cheddar cheese (optional)
