7 sensational grilling alternatives to brats and burgers

Vegetables

We often forget to grill vegetables with our meats, and yet it's one of the more delicious ways to eat them! Take eggplant, for example, and cut it into 1-cm slices lengthwise. Lightly brush them with olive oil and place on the grill. Let cook for about 20 minutes. You can also grill up some stuffed tomatoes or bell peppers filled with cream cheese. Or why not fresh button mushrooms stuffed with garlic, cheese and herbs, lightly charred?

Of course, if you can't imagine a barbecue without some form of potato side, opt for this healthier non-fried version. Take medium-sized potatoes, wash and prick them and wrap in aluminum foil before placing them on the hot coals.
