Believe it or not, a glass of wine before bed will help you lose weight!
Dinner is over, and it's time to go to bed, but you're still feeling a little peckish. According to some, the solution could be having a glass of wine!
The Daily Mail released this interesting tidbit, citing Linda Monk, age 47, who lost 3 kilos (about 9 pounds) in 3 weeks by drinking a glass of wine right before going to bed. Although it might seem counter-productive, the idea is that the glass of wine replaced her dessert, snacks or chocolate that she was used to snacking on before turning out the lights.
A second testimony, that of Samantha Merrit, age 40, explains that "calories don't seem to have an impact on the bathroom scale. I can refuse dessert no problem, knowing that I get to enjoy a glass or two of wine about 4 times a week." Another advantage of drinking wine is that it reduces stress and promotes sleepiness.
Their advice is actually nothing new. In 2010, Tim Ferriss wrote a book called "The 4-hour body", in which he suggests drinking a glass of wine in order to avoid midnight snacking. It also means you're less at risk of giving up on your diet because you're starving.
And before him, a Harvard study of 20,000 women showed that those who drank a half-bottle of wine every day were less likely to be obese.
Just bear in mind that moderation is the key to success: just as you should avoid snacking in excess, the same applies to alcohol, too.
