8 Foods That Make You Gain Weight When Eaten At Night

Bread & Pastries

When it comes to evening meals, bread and pastries should be avoided because of their high carbohydrate content. The body uses carbohydrates for easily-burnable energy during the day, and any leftover carbs get stored as fat when you sleep.

If you still want bread for dinner, opt for wholegrain — it's much more nutritious and keeps you fuller for longer. But beware: Supermarkets will often try to sell white bread dyed with dark malt and sprinkled with grains as "whole gain." Real whole grain bread is made with 90% whole grains. Best find a baker you trust for the real thing.
